It felt like it has been forever since the Spring term started until I looked at the calendar only to find that I have exactly three weeks until Easter break! Yay!
I honestly can’t believe that we’re nearing the end of February. There has been a lot of happenings, events and deadlines. Although it’s nothing new, it does get overwhelming and unnerving at times, but alhamdulillah, I got through with the help and the support that I receive my loved ones. 3 weeks left to go, after all!
Before the Spring term became more inordinately hectic, I had the pleasure of working with Mu’izz Khalid in London for his 2016 comeback on Wearrior Instinct, a Bruneian fashion blog that encourages and advocates you to wear your instinct.
I first knew Mu’izz through our mutual friends and we officially met in real life almost seven years late at Bloggers’ High Tea in Brunei hosted by Ainul Apri back in 2014. I had always wanted to collaborate with him in a shoot, especially because I love his outfit ideas and his personal style, but back then, the discovery of my niche in photography was still relatively new.
Not long after that, I found my calling specifically in film photography. As if time couldn’t be any more perfect, Mu’izz and I reconnected in 2015 with hopes and plans of a future collaboration, and I’m truly glad that it finally happened.
Clad in a dark ensemble for our shoot, Mu’izz personified the meaning of reinvention while staying true to the essence of his personal style. We went to Portobello Road where antiques, vintage finds and old trinkets donned the notable street market. Read more about his feature outfit here.
Frankly speaking, I was a tad nervous because it was my first ever collaboration with a fellow blogger and I wanted to make sure that I could bring about something beautiful out of this collaboration. To my delight (and relief), Mu’izz loved the photos!
For me, the weekend trip to London was not just for work, but it was also a chance for me to get to know more about Mu’izz and to take a glimpse at his perspective on life and what makes him him.
Thank you, Mu’izz, for this transcending experience from getting to know another soul.
The photographs are mesmerizing as always! I really like the tone, Fifi!

Gahhh! I saw several of these photos being teased on Instagram and I couldn’t be any more excited! I am smitten with the route Mu’izz decided to take with his style, and you’ve captured his little reinvention wonderfully, Fifi. Brilliant photography and I can’t wait to see more of your collaborations!
